Descripción y detalles del examen

The Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) credential is the nationally recognized professional certification for dietetic technicians, administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). This certification validates that an individual possesses the foundational knowledge and technical skills required to work under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) in diverse healthcare, community, and foodservice settings. Earning the DTR credential demonstrates a commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, and professional standards. It signifies competency in core areas such as food and nutrition sciences, medical nutrition therapy support, foodservice systems management, and community nutrition education. As the entry-level credential for technical practitioners in dietetics, it serves as a critical stepping stone for career advancement and is often a prerequisite for employment in hospitals, long-term care facilities, school nutrition programs, and public health agencies. The certification is maintained through ongoing professional development, ensuring DTRs remain current in a dynamic healthcare landscape.
