HPE Aruba Certified Switching Associate (ACSA) Practice Test

While there are no formal mandatory prerequisites, HPE Aruba strongly recommends that candidates have a foundational understanding of networking concepts (equivalent to the Aruba Certified Network Technician (ACNT) knowledge) and 6-12 months of hands-on experience with networking technologies. Practical experience with Aruba switches or completion of the official Aruba Switching Fundamentals course is highly advantageous for exam success.

The HPE Aruba ACSA certification is valid for three years from the date you pass the exam. To maintain your certified status, you must recertify before the expiration date by passing the current version of the ACSA exam, or by earning a higher-level certification in the Aruba portfolio, such as the Aruba Certified Switching Professional (ACSP).

The ACSA exam (typically exam code HPE6-A85) consists of approximately 55-65 questions to be completed within 90 minutes. The format includes multiple-choice, multiple-answer, drag-and-drop, and scenario-based items that assess your ability to configure, manage, and troubleshoot ArubaOS-CX switches. The exam is proctored and can be taken at a Pearson VUE test center or through an online proctoring service.

The ACSA certification focuses on the modern, cloud-native ArubaOS-CX operating system, which features a modular Linux-based architecture, a REST API, and automation capabilities. While foundational switching concepts are consistent, the exam emphasizes the configuration and management of ArubaOS-CX switches using both the Command Line Interface (CLI) and the WebUI, distinguishing it from the legacy ArubaOS-Switch (formerly Provision/ProCurve) platform.

HPE Aruba provides official preparation resources, including the 'Aruba Switching Fundamentals' instructor-led course (or equivalent e-learning), the official exam study guide, and the detailed exam blueprint. Hands-on practice is critical; utilizing Aruba's virtual switch lab environments (VSF) or physical lab equipment is highly recommended to reinforce configuration and troubleshooting skills for topics like VLANs, STP, and basic routing.
