CHDA - Certified Health Data Analyst Practice Test

AHIMA requires candidates to meet one of two pathways: 1) Hold an RHIA, RHIT, or relevant bachelor's degree plus three years of healthcare data experience, or 2) Hold a master's degree or higher plus one year of healthcare data experience. 'Healthcare data experience' is specifically defined as work in data acquisition, management, analysis, interpretation, or reporting.

While other certifications (like those in SQL, Tableau, or general data science) teach transferable technical skills, the CHDA focuses on the application of those skills to healthcare-specific challenges, such as clinical classification systems (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT), healthcare compliance (HIPAA), quality metrics (HEDIS, CMS Star Ratings), and population health methodologies. It validates both analytical technique and healthcare data context.

CHDAs commonly advance into roles such as Senior Healthcare Data Analyst, Clinical Informatics Analyst, Business Intelligence Manager, Director of Healthcare Analytics, Quality Improvement Analyst, and Population Health Analyst. They work in diverse settings including hospitals, health insurance companies, government agencies, consulting firms, and health IT vendors, often leading analytics projects that inform strategic decisions.

The CHDA exam is a computer-based test consisting of 115 multiple-choice questions, with 100 scored items and 15 pretest questions. Candidates have 2 hours to complete the exam. It is scored on a scale of 100 to 400, with a passing score of 300. The exam uses a scaled scoring methodology to ensure consistency across different versions.
