AEM: Associate Emergency Manager Exam Practice Test

The AEM is often seen as the foundational step toward eventually qualifying for the CEM.

The single most important document is the official AEM Candidate Handbook and Exam Blueprint provided by IAEM. This blueprint details the exact percentage of the exam dedicated to each domain (e.g., Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, Recovery, Integration). IAEM also provides a list of recommended references, such as FEMA's Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101, the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and the National Response Framework (NRF). The AEM exam is a computer-based test consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions. Candidates are allotted 2 hours to complete the exam.
