NCMA Certified Contracts Manager Exam Practice Test

NCMA requires a combination of education and professional contract management experience. The standard requirement is a bachelor's degree plus five years of experience, or an associate's degree plus seven years of experience. In lieu of a degree, ten years of verifiable professional experience is accepted. Experience must be in a field directly related to contract management.

The CPCM is an advanced, performance-based certification that requires demonstrating applied expertise and leadership through a more rigorous process, including a review of work products and professional contributions. The CCM is often a stepping stone toward the CPCM.

The core resource is the 'Contract Management Body of Knowledge' (CMBOK), published by NCMA. This volume outlines the essential concepts, processes, and regulations covered on the exam. NCMA also offers official study guides, training courses, and practice exams aligned directly with the CMBOK and exam blueprint.

While the CCM curriculum includes essential government-centric regulations like the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), its principles are universally applicable. The core competencies-procurement planning, negotiation, risk management, performance management, and ethics-are critical in commercial contracting. The CCM certification is valid for three years. To recertify, holders must earn a minimum of 60 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours within the three-year cycle.
