CELPIP-General LS (Listening and Speaking) Practice Test

The CELPIP-General test assesses all four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The CELPIP-General LS test assesses only Listening and Speaking. The LS version is specifically accepted by IRCC for permanent residency and citizenship applications where only these two skills are required, making it a streamlined option for many applicants.

The Speaking test is entirely computer-delivered. You respond to on-screen prompts by speaking into a microphone, and your responses are recorded and digitally assessed by certified CELPIP raters. Scoring is based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and evaluates factors such as coherence, vocabulary, listening ability (for interactive tasks), and overall communicative effectiveness.

The CELPIP-General LS is officially designated for Express Entry (Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class), various Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), and citizenship applications. CELPIP test results are valid for two years from the date of your test. For immigration applications, your test results must be valid on the date your application is received by IRCC.

Many professional regulatory bodies in Canada (e.g., for nursing, engineering, pharmacy) accept CELPIP scores as proof of English language proficiency for licensure. You must check the specific requirements of the regulatory body governing your profession, as they may require a specific CLB level or a different test module.
