CTL: Certified Transportation and Logistics Professional Exam Practice Test

Candidates must meet one of three criteria: 1) Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, 2) Have at least three years of professional experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, or 3) Be a current member of the AST&L. Official documentation supporting your chosen path is required during the application process.

The exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions, to be completed within a 3-hour testing window. It is computer-based and administered at approved Pearson VUE test centers worldwide. The questions are drawn from the six core modules of the official CTL body of knowledge, with each module weighted according to its importance in the professional domain.

The exam is based on the following modules: 1) Transportation Economics and Management, 2) Logistics Systems and Management, 3) Supply Chain Management, 4) International Transportation and Logistics, 5) Strategic Management, and 6) Quantitative Methods. A detailed blueprint specifying sub-topics within each module is provided by AST&L for study guidance.

CTL certification must be renewed every three years to ensure professionals stay current with industry evolution. Maintenance requires earning 60 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through activities such as attending relevant conferences, completing professional development courses, publishing industry articles, or participating in related university coursework. A renewal fee is also applicable.

While all are valuable, the CTL has a distinct focus on the *transportation* and *physical logistics* components of the supply chain, with deep coverage of modes, economics, regulation, and international operations. It is historically rooted in transportation management. In contrast, the APICS certifications (CSCP/CPIM) often emphasize broader supply chain integration, planning, and inventory control within a manufacturing and operations context. The CTL is particularly recognized in transportation-centric roles and industries.
