ITIL 4 Specialist: Create Deliver and Support (CDS) Practice Test

The formal prerequisite is holding the ITIL 4 Foundation certificate. While not always mandated by all Examination Institutes, it is highly recommended to have practical experience in IT service management or related areas (e.g., development, operations) to fully grasp and apply the integrated concepts covered in the CDS module effectively.

The CDS module is explicitly designed to integrate ITIL 4 practices with Agile, DevOps, and Lean methodologies. It moves beyond traditional silos, teaching how to create streamlined value streams that incorporate continuous integration, deployment, and feedback. It focuses on collaboration, automation, and improving flow from creation to support, making ITIL highly relevant in modern product and service development environments.

The primary audience includes IT practitioners and managers involved in the end-to-end creation, delivery, and support of services. Key roles are Service Desk Managers, Release Managers, Problem Managers, DevOps Engineers, IT Operations Managers, Service Delivery Managers, and anyone responsible for integrating development and operations practices to improve service outcomes.

The exam is typically 90 minutes long and consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. It is a closed-book exam. A passing score is usually 70% (28 out of 40). Questions are designed to test comprehension, application, and analysis of the learning outcomes, often within the context of a given scenario.

The CDS is one of four mandatory modules required to achieve the ITIL 4 Managing Professional (MP) designation. The other three are Drive Stakeholder Value (DSV), High Velocity IT (HVIT), and Direct, Plan and Improve (DPI). Earning all four demonstrates comprehensive, practical, and technical knowledge about running successful IT-enabled services, products, and teams.
