NCIDQ IDPX - Interior Design Professional Exam Practice Test

This area tests your ability to research, interpret, and apply relevant building codes, regulations, and standards to interior design projects. Key knowledge includes the International Building Code (IBC), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards, fire and life safety codes (e.g., egress, occupancy classifications), and flammability standards. It emphasizes protecting public health, safety, and welfare through compliant design solutions for finishes, space planning, and means of egress.

Preparation should focus on the principles and application of sustainable design within the interior design scope. Key topics include material selection (life cycle assessment, VOC emissions, recycled content), energy and water efficiency strategies for interiors, indoor environmental quality (IEQ) factors like daylighting and acoustics, and familiarity with rating systems such as LEED, WELL, and Living Building Challenge. Understand sustainable practices within the constraints of codes, budgets, and client goals.
