Salesforce strongly recommends candidates hold the Salesforce Administrator credential and have at least two years of hands-on experience implementing and configuring Salesforce Field Service Lightning. Practical experience with Service Cloud, managing work orders, service appointments, and mobile deployments is essential. While not mandatory, completing the official 'Field Service Consultant' trailmix and instructor-led training is highly advisable to ensure coverage of all exam objectives.

While both certifications fall under the Service umbrella, they focus on distinct areas. The Service Cloud Consultant credential centers on omni-channel contact center operations, case management, and knowledge management. The Field Service Consultant certification is specialized for managing external, mobile workforces. It delves deeply into scheduling optimization, technician dispatching, mobile field operations, inventory management for trucks/warehouses, and managing assets in the field-topics not covered in depth by the Service Cloud exam.

The exam consists of 60 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions to be completed within 105 minutes. The passing score is 68%. The questions are scenario-based, requiring you to apply your knowledge to choose the best solution for a given business requirement, often involving configuration, process design, or optimization strategy.

Failure to complete the maintenance requirement will result in the certification being suspended.
