Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Developer Practice Test

This certification is designed for experienced software developers, application architects, and DevOps engineers who design, build, test, and deploy cloud-native applications on Google Cloud. It is ideal for professionals responsible for making architectural decisions, selecting appropriate GCP services, and ensuring application scalability, reliability, and security.

The Associate Cloud Engineer certifies foundational skills in deploying, monitoring, and maintaining projects on GCP. The Professional Cloud Developer is an advanced, role-specific certification focused on the developer's perspective: designing, building, and optimizing applications using cloud-native principles. It requires deeper knowledge of development frameworks, APIs, microservices, CI/CD, and application-specific services like Cloud Run, Kubernetes Engine, and Pub/Sub.

Google recommends 3+ years of industry experience, including over 1 year designing and managing solutions using Google Cloud. You should have extensive hands-on experience with: developing and deploying applications using GCP services (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, App Engine), implementing CI/CD pipelines with Cloud Build, integrating data and messaging services (Cloud SQL, Firestore, Pub/Sub), and managing APIs with Cloud Endpoints or Apigee.

The exam consists of 50-60 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions to be completed in 2 hours. It is delivered online via remote proctoring or at a test center. The scoring is on a scaled basis, with a passing score typically reflecting a high level of competency. Google does not publish a specific numerical passing score, as it can be adjusted based on exam difficulty.

The certification is valid for two years from the date of issuance. To renew, you must pass the current version of the exam or complete a specified continuing education program (when available) to demonstrate your knowledge is up-to-date with the latest GCP services and best practices.
