SSC Combined Graduate Level Tier I Practice Test

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Specific posts may have additional subject-specific requirements (e.g., Mathematics for Statistical Investigator), which are detailed in the official notification. Age limits vary by post, typically ranging from 18 to 32 years, with permissible relaxations for reserved categories as per government norms.

SSC CGL Tier I is a 60-minute computer-based test comprising 100 objective-type questions (25 from each section: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension). Each question carries 2 marks, summing to a maximum of 200 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer. Unanswered questions carry no penalty.

Tier I is a qualifying stage. Candidates who score above the prescribed cut-off qualify for Tier II, which is a descriptive and skill-based examination. Final selection is based on the combined performance in Tiers I and II, followed by Tier III (Descriptive Paper) and Tier IV (Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test, where applicable). Based on the final merit list and post preferences, candidates are recommended for appointment to various Group B and C posts.

Appointees receive a stable career with a handsome pay scale (as per the 7th Central Pay Commission), job security, medical benefits, pension under the National Pension System (NPS), and other allowances. Career progression is well-defined through departmental examinations and promotions based on seniority and performance, leading to higher administrative and managerial responsibilities over time.

Focus on current affairs of national and international importance from the last 6-12 months, static General Knowledge (Indian History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Science), and basic knowledge of the environment and everyday science. Regularly read newspapers, follow monthly current affairs compilations from reliable sources, and practice previous years' questions to understand the question trends.
